Uninstalling Josetta

Josetta has been discontinued as of January 20, 2017. It is not developed any longer, and unsupported. This documentation is left available as a reference for past users.

Safe uninstall

Uninstalling Josetta from your site will leave all your translations untouched, as they are stored inside Joomla! and Josetta is not used at any point to display translations to your visitors. Your site will continue operating just as before.

Should you wish to remove Josetta from your web site, use the Joomla! extension manager:

  • Select the Extensions > Extension manager menu items
  • Select the Manage tab in the left menu
  • Select the Josetta component
  • Click on the X uninstall button
  • Do not uninstall individual parts of Josetta: Josetta is made of a component and multiple plugins. You should always and only uninstall the Josetta component, not any of the other plugins that have 'Josetta' in their name.

  • Josetta also makes use of the shLib and/or wbLib plugins. shLib/wbLib are libraries of common programs that are shared by our extensions, most notably Josetta and sh404SEF. You should never uninstall shLib or wbLib plugins yourself. The extensions using them will do so if they see that no other extension needs them. Removing shLib or wbLib yourself will most likely break your site.
