Export/Import from Joomfish
Josetta has been discontinued as of January 20, 2017. It is not developed any longer, and unsupported. This documentation is left available as a reference for past users.
Josetta includes a tool that can be used to facilitate the extraction of Joomla! 1.5.x content which has been translated using the very popular tool Joomfish. This process is made of 2 steps:
-
On the source site (Joomla! 1.5.x), run the Josetta
exporter
, which will let you save an export file (zip) - On the target site (Joomla! 3.x+), use the full version of Josetta to upload the export file and import content
As the data transfer is done through a zip file, the source and target sites do not need to be on the same server.
The exporter will transfer both the original language content AND all translations available on the source site. Therefore, you should not migrate or import the source language content by other means, otherwise you will end up with twice the source language content. That will not cause any issue though as imported data will be separate, but you will have to manually delete duplicate content.
