Do I need an OpenAI API key?

Yes. 4AI uses OpenAI services to power its AI requests. This is a paid service by OpenAI, the same technology that powers ChatGPT.

You can get an access key from your OpenAI account. From March 8, 2024, OpenAI requires that you purchase credits in advance. See all details on the 4AI Getting Started documentation page.

Do I need an ChatGPT Plus membership?

No. You do not need to pay $20/month for the ChatGPT Plus membership sold at ChatGPT.

4AI uses OpenAI API. It directly connects to OpenAI servers and does not go through ChatGPT. In fact, using 4AI is a good and nearly always much cheaper way to access the latest OpenAI models such as ChatGPT 4.

Where can I find my update key?

An update key is needed to use Joomla! one-click updater with 4AI with the Premium version of 4AI. You will find them at the top of your dashboard.

Yes! You can download and use free of charge the Community version of 4AI for as long and on as many sites as you want.
