Hello!

I'm wondering is there an option in SH404SEF to set canonical tags during pagination? For example when I open the second page in pagination I want it to have <link rel="canonical" hre="link on the first page (without limistart)". Can sh404sef do this?
And also question - can sh404sef replace automatically in pagination the query from url like "?limistart=0&limit=10'" by page number to it would look like "/page-2" instead of "/page?limistart=0&limit=10'"?
I'm searching for solution to make these 2 things and didn't find is it possible to do with sh404?

Yes. Please see theRelease and security pages for examples of this.

You can always manually add a canonical to any page on your site, with sh404SEF. As for the automatic behavior, we do not add a canonical there, because we cannot know which page would be the correct canonical (do you have a View All page or not?)

Instead, and when possible, we follow the Google guidelines for Paginated content and use the rel="next" and rel="prev" markup.

Thank you for the reply!
1. Looks like in my case page-2, page-3 and etc. don't work because I'm using j2store ecommerce plugin, and sh404sef is configured for the com_content and not work with com_j2store.
2. Yes I see that it can be done manually. But when you have a lot of pages it's very hard to do. And also in my SEF URLs list I don't see urls for the pagination like "/page?limistart=0&limit=10", so I have to create them first (define the non-sef url, create sef url and then set canonical link and alias). And when I will add new products for example and number of pages will increase then I have to remember to create new link and set canonical there. So manually is not the best case here, that's why I asked about automatic mode.

Hi

Sorry, I thought you were asking before getting the extension. You're on a pre-sale forum, for assistance, please use the helpdesk to ask for support.

So manually is not the best case here, that's why I asked about automatic mode.
But to which page do you want to have a canonical?

And when I will add new products for example and number of pages will increase then I have to remember to create new link and set canonical there.
If you have a category view of multiple products, then a canonical is not the right thing to do - unless you have a View all page, which I doubt.

The right thing to do is the prev/next markup mentioned earlier (see google guidelines I linked to).

Again, please use the helpdesk for any further assistance you need.
