Dear,

I have one question about duplicates URL. It is right to have so many duplicates URL or what is the best solutions with it. Because if I copy the non-sef URL and I put after url I see the same content and it is duplicate content.

I have for example 50 duplicates of one URL.

I am not sure what is better ... for example: remove it and redirect it all or what to do.

Can you advice me please?

Thank you very much,

yours sincerely,

Milan

Good question Milan. I was just about to post a similar question but thought I'd search the forum first for a solution. If your question hasn't been answered then I'll assume there hasn't been one.

Duplicate URLs confuse me as well. I have one that has 27 duplicates. I'm not sure how to manage that? Wipe them all out but the one I want or leave them to be redirected?

I'd like to know why and how this happens. It seems to me to be something unique to Joomla. Lots URLs seem to get generated.

I'd welcome some clarification on this. Thank you.

Hi both,

The duplicate non-sef that you see are those created by Joomla itself and the extensions you may have on your site. Most of them comes from using menu items to build URLs and/or the lack of a proper Itemid (menu item id) when Joomla and extensions build their non-sef URLs.
Normally, that would be a significant issue, creating multiple links to the same content, as you outlined.

One of the main purpose of sh404SEF is to shield you from that. By not using menu item/Itemid to build URLs, sh404SEF makes sure your visitors, including search engines, only sees one single URL: the SEF URL.

The multiple non-sef urls are kept hidden and are never used on the site itself, thus preventing duplicate content issues - more aptly named "mulitple URLs for same content".

You can get a few more details on this page from the sh404SEF documentation.
