Hi

I have eshop with Joomla 1.5, Virtuemart 1.1.9 and sh404sef 2.4.6.1033.

I would like to upgrade to latest Joomla, Virtuemart and sh404sef version. Is there any recommendation way how to do it?

I am afraid of changing urls and loosing positions on google.

Hi

To be honest, and with such ancient software, I can't really be of much help. The first thing is that there is no "import" procedure, because the non-sef URLs in Joomla changed, so we cannot convert them from 1.5 to 3.x. I'm pretty sure the non-sef URLs in Virtuemart also changed.

That said, sh404SEF will creates URLs that are pretty close, if not the same, to the old ones, assuming you keep the products categories and naming the same. There might be some adjustments to do, but it should basically be pretty close.

My advice would be to do a test, only moving across a few categories and a few products in each categories, to see how things work, and how close the URLs are. You will need to also recreate the menu structure you want to use, as both Joomla and Virtuemart may produce different URLs depending on the menu structure.
