Hello,

We're considering purchasing the SH404SEF extension to use on our horse rescue centre website.

Currently, we have awfully long URLs that look like this: http://easyhorsecare.net/our-horses/our-ponies/95-en/our-ponies/559-cruz

I would like to be able to shorten this to: http://easyhorsecare.net/our-ponies/cruz

Is this possible with SH404SEF? And if so, how would I implement this?

Hi

It depends on the type of content, whether they have a specific sh404SEF plugin or not, and whether they allow customization. For com_content, that's easily done as sh404SEF has built-in settings for Joomla standard content types.

Hmm.

Okay, so for the example link I'd given above (http://easyhorsecare.net/our-horses/our-ponies/95-en/our-ponies/559-cruz), the link structure is easyhorsecare.net/parent-menu/dropdown-menu/English-category/our-ponies-category/article.

I guess I'm hoping to change it to easyhorsecare.net/our-ponies-category/article.

Would sh404SEF allow customisation of this type of link structure?

I can't say anything else than what I've said above:
For com_content, that's easily done as sh404SEF has built-in settings for Joomla standard content types.

sh404SEF does not use Joomla menus to build URL (for com_content and some other extension), so that looks possible.
However, it all depends on the type of content you are talking about.
