Hello,

I have a very large site and a few months back I migrated to Joomla. I use Kunena, and my forum has over 1.5 million posts. (my English is rather poor, sorry)

I bought ARTIO for furls, and I lost most of my google ranking, because it seems to be that to be crawled, the urls must be clicked on beforehand to be saved in the database.

how does sh404 works? same way?

What happens in a case like mine, with so many urls?

Hi

I don't think you lost your rankings because "...URLs must be clicked...". First, URLS don't need to be clicked. URLs are created when they are displayed, not clicked, so for instance loading your forum front page will create each and every URL on that page. With search engines bots crawling your site, URLs are recreated very quickly.

The most likely reason you lost rankings is simpler: your URLs changed. That's something you don't want to do normally. If you have URLs well ranked in search engines, then:
- either you keep them
- or, if you want to change them for some reason, you have to establish a redirect system so that requests for old URLs are sent to the new URLs.

If you already changed your URLs from "a previous system" to Kunena + Artio, then I would not advise another change.
If you ranking are so bad that you don't care, the way I'd handle it with sh404SEF would be to bypass database storage for the forum, ie enable the "Use Joomla router" for Kunena.
