Hi, is your extension (sh404SEF) compatible with hikashop? And is it compatible with K2?

My issue is not with Hikashop. But with duplicate urls or duplicate content being reported from Google from my main site. I would like to know if I download and purchase the extension, and install that nothing "bad" would happened with my hikashop?

And one more thing. Let's assume I am complete noob (I am), could I pay extra to have you guys fix my issue with duplicate content and then educate me on how to avoid it in the future?

You can also answer me by e-mail.

Best Regards,

Hi

We do have users of Hikashop and or K2. And I'm sure aware of the duplicate URL issues that you may face. However, if your site is already launched and indexed bby search engines, I would probably advise against changing its URLs now. Unless you have few products, and are able to manually reproduce all URLs, the net benefit would be small compared to the work required to setup 301 redirects from old URLs to the new, on top of the small SEO loss associated with 301 redirects.
If your site is relatively new, that's a different stroy of course?

Best regards

Well, its been indexed. Relatively new I guess (a couple of months its been out there). But it's very small! The whole website, all-in-all only has about 10 different pages. And only two products!

Do you get SEO loss when you use 301 redirects? Because I think at the moment we are getting huge SEO losses because google thinks we have duplicate content on our site. More specifically, google webmaster tools says we have duplicate title tags and meta descriptions for 5 of our pages. And these are important pages that we would like to rank higher in search. We got no problem with small inital losses because of redirects (because we are not really that high up anyways at the momet, except for one or two pages), but in the future, when we market the webpage and the site's popularity increases, we would not like to be penalized because we have duplicate content.

What I've done so far is to remove the bad URL's from google webmaster. Maybe this can solve the problem? But basically you are saying the net benefit is very small?

Hi

Sorry, this is just a discussion area, support is only provided to subscribers through the helpdesk and is of course our priority.

yes, 301 redirects causes some amount of link authority loss. But that's not what you appear to be talking about here. You mention duplicate titles and meta data, and that's not really the same as duplicated content. The latter is same pages which can be accessed through different URLs.
What you talk about is (usually) different pages, with different URL, but which title and meta data have not been set properly and end up being the same.
Generally, duplicate content (in the correct sense of the term) is not considered a big issue for very small sites, especially if Google can sort it out. But at the same time, the facts that it shows under WMT, shows they don't see it as normal.
Fixing your titles and meta data should be quite possible directly for each page, within Joomla, K2 or Hikashop I think.

As for your initial question, no, we don't provide SEO or website integration services, that's a totally different kind of business.

Rgds
