Hi

On the contrary it creates me problems and I do not find any help for SEO as I used to get from SH404

Absolutely. 4SEF is in no way a successor to sh404SEF. It does only and strictly one single thing: SEF URLs. It does not have any SEO feature at all.

The simple SEO features that where in sh404SEF have been integrated into 4SEO (not all, some have been dropped as they were outdated), and if you do serious work today, 4SEO should have you covered in all areas.

4SEF is an absolute requirement if you were using sh404SEF in the past on a site, because it's the only way to maintain the same URLs as you had with sh404SEF. You must not change the URLs of a site, that's the only thing you can never do in SEO.

I have looked again at the one and only ticket you opened and I can see that you did not reply to my reply, so I assumed you figured it out.

What I don't understand in that ticket is that you seem to be using sh404SEF previously, but you asked me how to configure 4SEF to create URLs that are NOT the same as sh404SEF. That's strange and I'd really like you continue discussing in this ticket so that I understand what's happening.

As for trying 4SEO, we do not have any "trial" version as this is strictly forbidden by the GPL license of Joomla. We can only give you the full version but cannot have a limited version.

As with 4SEF and all our extensions, we do refund when someone is not satisfied with what our extensions do for their use case.

Best regards

Bonjour Yannick   Many thanks for your answer (I'm not sure whether you are French or not so let's peak in English)   I would like to be refund 4SEF or get a voucher so that I can indeed purchase 4SEO and check its convenience for my needs. I used to use SH404 for old sites I had developed.      Best regards   Florie

Hi

For reference, I'm copying the couple of emails we had here:

I am French but all communication has to happen in English for various internal reasons.

I will refund your 4SEF subscription but please do not that if you want to use 4SEO alone on a site that has sh404SEF, don't think about it: doing will instantly kill all of that site SEO (because all the URLs will change).

I don't know if you develop sites for others or just for you, but especially if you work for clients, surely you must be aware of that, and make them aware of that.

It's also best to continue this discussion on the helpdesk ticket so that we have everything in one place (we're not equipped to handle support by email).

Euh sorry but your 4SEF subscription is from 6 months ago? we have a 30 days refund policy, not forever....

Best regards

Hi thank you for your answer.

No I no longer use SH404 and swithec to 4SEF to maintain indeed the url.

However, since I am making many new developments, I am struggling managing duplicates and expired url with 404 with 4SEF and Joomla alone.

It becomes even worse than with joomla only without 4SEF because, I really do not find the "easy" way to manage duplicates with 4SEF as I used to do it with SH404 in the older version of my website with joomla3.

Is there any simple solution? If I take 4SEO, does it replace 4SEF ? or does it complete it?

Regards

Hi

Duplicates work in exactly the same way in 4SEF and sh404SEF. Absolutely no change. See documentation here. I'd say the user interface is nicer and faster to use in fact.

If I take 4SEO, does it replace 4SEF ? or does it complete it?

4SEO and 4SEF have no relationship at all.

- 4SEF does only one single thing: create and manage SEF URLs. It does not nothing else, no redirects, no metadata, no canonical, etc. It's only purpose is to 1/ create SEF URLs that do not rely on menu item as Joomla does and 2/ maintain URLs from sh404SEF

- 4SEO is the all-in-one SEO extension. It has most if not all SEO features in sh404SEF but adds the more important ones that I just could not add to sh404SEF because it was too old technically (structured data, sitemap, content replacer, ...)
