Hello. At the moment I'm using sh404sef 4.24.1.4308 in Joomla 3.10.10.
First I would like to install 4SEO and import the SEO data from sh404sef into 4SEO. But leave sh404sef to generate sef addresses.

And then, after a few weeks, I would like to install 4SEF, import the addresses from sh404sef into 4SEF, and only then disable sh404sef. Is it possible?

Hi Alex,

Yes, that's possible. You can do it either way, start with 4SEF or start with 4SEO. Starting with 4SEO is easier maybe because most of it is "internal" (structured data, some meta data, etc) so there's no direct visible impact as if you touch the URLs.

Of course, I'd suggest all this be done on a test copy of the websites.

How are you doing? there's been quite some bombings in Kharkiv recently, I think?

"Of coures, I'd suggest all this be done on a test copy of the websites." - Yes, I'm currently working on a local server.

I installed 4SEO. Imported all available data from sh404sef. I disabled the "Activate SEO management" option in sh404sef. Now sh404sef creates SEF addresses. At the same time, 4SEO must add meta-data.
But it doesn't work. 4SEO does not add metadata that was imported from sh404sef. Also I don't see the meta data itself in 4SEO.

Perhaps you need access to a test copy?

"How are you doing? there's been quite some bombings in Kharkiv recently, I think?" - my city is bombed almost every day. In the last few days, the number of strikes has increased.

Hi

Also I don't see the meta data itself in 4SEO.

I'd suggest Clearing the analysis data and redoing an analysis. 4SEO has not stored the new meta data I suspect.

Should I analyze the site first and then import the data?

Hi

No, the opposite. Analyze AFTER importing, so that 4SEO can update the stored information with the newly imported data.

Initially, that's exactly what I did. Imported data and then analyzed.

Hi

OK, so I'll have to double-check what's happening. I think maybe the problem is with generating the SEF URLs when importing, the SEF URLs generated during the import do not match the current SEF URLs on the site.

Maybe you're right. Since before the start of the import and during the import, 4SEO disables sh404SEF.

You were right. The problem is in the URL. I seem to have solved this problem.
1) Install 4SEF.
2) Import all URLs from sh404sef to 4sef.
3) Import all meta-data from sh404sef to 4SEO.
4) Run site analysis in 4SEO.
Then I will see the meta data from sh404sef in 4SEO and be able to edit it.

Now I am waiting for the end of the analysis of the site in 4SEO and I will check it in more detail.

Hello. Is there any way to import meta-data into 4SEO without installing 4SEF?

Hi

The two are unrelated, there's no need for 4SEF to do anything in 4SEO.

Without 4SEF, importing metadata from sh404sef to 4SEO does not work. Or am I doing something wrong.
There is sh404sef on the website. I installed 4SEO and imported all the data from sh404sef into 4SEO. But that didn't help. Meta data and open graph images were not imported.
But I found a way:
1) Install 4SEF.
2) Import all URLs from sh404sef to 4sef.
3) Import all meta-data from sh404sef to 4SEO.
4) Run site analysis in 4SEO.
Then I will see the meta data from sh404sef in 4SEO and be able to edit it.

I have a question. Is there any way to import meta-data into 4SEO without installing 4SEF? Or am I doing something wrong?

Same answer. 4SEF is not not tied to 4SEO, or the other way around. If something does not work as expected, do not try to find a "workaround". Instead, report things here so that I can understand what's going on and fix anything that needs fixing.

I think the issue in question is one that we fixed last week. You can use the latest development version (from the development versions download area ) and test that it works now.

Note that this dev version will be published as next 4SEO version very quickly, like today.
