#8707 – Redirection joomla core component

Hey,

I do have a lot of redirection (short url) with joomla core redirect compostant

If i do active 4SEO, then this redirection do not work any more

Do i need to do something with 4SEO ?

Hi

Unfortunately, the Joomla core component is not an actual redirect manager, it only handles 404s. Not the best idea in the world, but it was easier and that's how they did it.

When you get 4SEO, at least on some languages, it offers a custom 404 error pages with added features such as offering similar URLs or displaying the error page with regular menus and modules. 

But that means the 404 error is handled and never reaches the Joomla redirect component. 

So your choice is to have your redirects or disable 404 error handlers (under Errors | Error pages, just disable the rules that must be there).

In the future, we'll add the capacity to read the Joomla core redirect component and execute the redirect (sh404SEF has been doing that for years), it's just not be done yet.
