#8431 – saying no to sitemap for pages - does it have to be done 1 by 1 (individually)?

Pages showing are internal non sef names or other items rather than menu items or real pages... I can see tick boxes for each but there is no option to then bulk apply NO to sitemap...is there a quicker way or not developed yet???

rather critical as one of the sites has 1000 non listed pages that need to be removed from the 4seo sitemap and seems it has to be done one at a time.

Hi

Ithere is no option to then bulk apply NO to sitemap

There are several ways to do that as described in the sitemaps documentation. The simplest is to open the Sitemaps | Settings | Included content dialog and add your exclusions specifications there. You also have separate specifications and rules for including images in sitemaps, at Sitemaps | Settings | Images

For more complex exclusions rules, you can also go to SEO Tools | SEO rules. You can create rules there and select Sitemap Exclusion at the "What to do" step. These rules are more powerful, they'll let you exclude from sitemap archived content or content that's older than a number of days for instance, globally or just for some sections of the sites. This is fully documented here.

Thank you for this...makes sense...however you have beautiful buttons that allow you to say "no": to adding to sitemap...would it not make sense to add the options at top of screen so you can tick multiple items and change their option to "No" sounds obvious to me

Hi

That would add 2 more buttons to the toolbar while not solving the actual issuef or sitemaps. It's actually rare to exclude directly URLs, most often, you want to exclude entire sets of pages (your forum, all your users pages, etc). So the "real way" is to just add "Exclude URLs" specifications.

If anything, I'll likely entirely remove the "active" sitemaps and Canonical columns, and just leave the rules, that will declutter that page quite a bit.

makes sense.

could you tell me in the SEO Rules - i need to remove these type of pages ... I choose " When to run" and "with some conditions" it has the option for run on this page /{*} so what would i do for this is the page :    ?author=1

Hi

Something like:

/{*}?author=1

This would exclude any page that has ?author=1 right after the ? character. If there can be variations such as ?author=0 or author=12323 then you may use /{*}?author={*} for instance.
