Hi,

I am new to sh404SEF, and just bought it today, my joomla version is 3.4.4, after I installed it to my site, I found my home the template of my home page has been damaged, you can check it here: http://www.xxxx.org.

And sh404SEF generates 3 new normal home pages automatically: http://www.xxxx.org/zh/ , http://www.xxxx.org/?limit=4&start=4, http://www.xxxx.org/?limit=4&start=8. Those 3 display normal and I can't delete them in the back end control panel.

Thanks for your help,
Arthur

Hi

First, to be clear: sh404SEF never generate any URL. It only translates them from non-sef to SEF when Joomla asks it.

By "home page damaged" I assume you mean that some modules are not showing as they were before? (I have looked at your site but I have no way to know how it's supposed to look).

The most likely reason is if the "Content" language for Joomla is not set to your site language (usually, this stays to English, even if you install a language pack.
This example has French, but you should simply add a record for chinese and disable the English record.
Again, note I'm talking about the Content joomla language, not the language packs of the site.

Hello,

Thanks for your help! Finally, my home page is back.

Now I'm facing other problems:

1. I purged the previous urls, the new SEF-urls sh404SEF translates look strange, there is a "http://www.xxxx.org" suffix behind each SEF-url, these links lead to nowhere, I had to remove them one by one manually.

2. After removing the suffix, the front end seems working fine, but in the sh404SEF control panel, some of the old SEF-urls(with homepage link suffix) sh404SEF translated before were back, and deleting them myself doesn't work, they keep coming back.

I attached the snapshot, please check.

Thanks for your time,
Arthur

Hi

Do you mind telling me why you were getting the "http://www.xxxx.org" suffix after some URLs and how you fixed it? this would be interesting for other people who may have the same problem.

Hello,

No, never mind, if our experience can help others, we'd like to share our mistakes.

I think the reason could be we put "http://www.xxxx.org" into both "sh404SEF Configuration", "Main", "Default index file", and "sh404SEF Configuration", "General", "Advance", "Home page URL".

When we removed it from both places, the website works well.

All the best,
Arthur

Hi

yes, totally. It's the "Default index file" setting. That's something different, coming from the old days, and obviously in need of being removed.

Note that Home pageURL is also not meant for that, and should only be filled in if using a "splash page".
