Hi

Not sure I understand the question. The error page is enabled by default and will appear on any 404 happening on the site.

As long as it's set to Override Joomla 404 error page, that's enough.

If you do not see the sh404SEF error page on 404, reasons are usually:

- your template is taking over the error display, that's usually hard to overcome but is rare

- some extensions such as Hikashop will not trigger a 404 even if a product does not exist (this can be changed in Hikashop settings)

- you have enabled back the Joomla router - by selecting "Use Joomla router" for at least one extension under the "By component" tab of sh404SEF configuration. The Joomla router unfortunately will often fail to trigger a 404 when a page does not exist.

Some other extensions can also interfere, for instance there are plugins that redirect 404s to the home page or another page ( that's real bad and should be disabled/uninstalled right away).

In any case, make sure to always provide a link to your site so I can at least check how the error looks like.

Hi

Indeed I see the Joomla error page. If you think none of the reasons I mentioned before apply to your case, please provide us with superadmin credentials to your website. You can create a temporary account, and delete it afterward, but it must have superuser level.

Hi again

sh404SEF is disabled on that site so not having 404 error page handling is expected:

Ahh oh thanks my wrong.

But when url optimizing is activated the urls be longer.
previously the url of the voucher was as follows:
https://xxxx.de/geschenkgutschein

When i activated url optimizing is the url:
https://xxxx.de/view/productdetails/virtuemart_product_id/141

have a great evening,
Markus

Hi

Exactly as expected. Optimizing URLs does not mean they are shorter (which does not really matters). It means we stop using Joomla menu items to build URLs and instead build URLs based on the article and categories, etc

That said, /view/productdetails/virtuemart_product_id/141 is not normal for a virtuemart product URL. I just logged in, purged the URLs and all seem correct to me.

Hello Yannick,

and thanks for the answer! Everything works fine. However the article categories are displayed in the URL.

link before: https://xxxx.de/about-us
link after (now): https://xxxx.de/sample-data-articles/about-us

How can I hide the category in url?

have a great weekend,
Markus

Hi

You can configure how categories are included in URLs for Joomla content by going to Extensions | Joomla in sh404SEF configuration.

Select which configuration best suits your need, save and delete the URLs you want to update so that new ones can be re-created taking the new settings into account.

Hi

The setting is activated.

It's not a setting that you need to activate or de-activate. It's a setting where you chose which option you prefer. Review the options and select which one suits your needs for your URL structure.

Who can i delete the URL's?

From the SEF URL manager. That's where you delete, create or modify URLs.

Best regards
