Hello, after updating to the newest version all sh404-settings were deleted. :( Fortunately I had a backup installation of the cms, so I recovered all options by hand. Unfortunately now the font size is not right and I don't under why sh404 change that.

The articles now looking like that: https://www.xxxx.de/smarthome/ring-doorbell-2-chime-pro-test.html

But the should looking like that: https://www.testsystem.xxxx.de/smarthome/ring-doorbell-2-chime-pro-test.html

Do you have an idea, which setting causes the problem?

Kind regards
Fabian

Hi

Hello, after updating to the newest version all sh404-settings were deleted.
How did that happen? sh404SEF settings are in the Joomla extensions database table (ie not an sh404SEF table) so all settings should be preserved. Which version did you updated from and how did you update? did you update anything else at the same time?

As for the font size or style, sh404SEF cannot have a direct effect on that of course, we do not deal with the visual aspect of the page, we're only "internal". If you look at the source of the page, you can see that the HTML is not the same between your 2 pages.

The one that's broken has a wrapping div of class itemIntroText around the code of the page:

The one that works does not have that:

Usually that would happen because some template overrides are not present or not used.

I assume you opened this ticket because when you set "Enable URL optimization" to "No" on sh404SEF control panel, the design comes back to the correct one?

If so, please provide us with superadmin credentials to your website. You can create a temporary account, and delete it afterward, but it must have superuser level.

Thanks and regards

Best regards

Hello and thank you for the fast reply. I don't understand why the code changed, but if I disable sh404 and clear the cache, all looking good.

Name: xxxx
PW: xxxx

Please be careful at the page. Thank you and kind regards!

Hi

Actually I will need also access to the other site, the one that works. The changes are likely made by your template - but it can be other extensions as well so I need to compare the 2 setups.

Best regards

Also and very importantly, please respond to this question:

Hello
I am not 100% sure, but I think I updated from 4.15.1.3839. I only updated SH404 and nothing more. Then I realized that the URLs changed and that all settings was lost. I looked in the testsystem and copied all settings by hand. Then I saw that the font size was not right anymore.

The Testsystem you will find here: https://www.testsystem.xxxx.de/administrator

Please use the same Name and Password like for the normal System.

Hi

I am not 100% sure, but I think I updated from 4.15.1.3839.

So it's not a totally outdated, years old version.

Then I realized that the URLs changed and that all settings was lost. I looked in the testsystem and copied all settings by hand.
I have never seen that happens. Like I said, settings are in the database so unless sh404SEF is set to "forget its configuration", I don't see how this can happen.
[EDIT] I just checked, sh404SEF is set to preserve configuration as it should.

OK, the test system however is completely different: it's running Joomla 3.9.6 and has multiple extensions that need to be updated compared to the live site.

And finally, I also found this ticket so this problem did not occur with the last update but was already present about a year ago. Do you remember what happened next and how/if you solved the problem?

Best regards

Hi

So it took me the better part of this afternoon but I finally understand the cause of the issue and added a workaround for K2 to sh404SEF. This is coming from an incompatibility between K2 display code and an sh404SEF feature designed to allow automatic OGP image and other meta data usage when Joomla caching is used on a site.
This has been working well (this feature was added last year I think) but not with K2 which changes its CSS classes based on wether the content has an intro text or not (ie "readmore link"). In the case of your template, this would result in different fonts and styles.

I have made a change to our code so that the way K2 handles this situation is not affected anymore. That new version is now running on your live site. You can also get it from the [download area] in case you need it for other sites.

Best regards

Hi,

Glad it's sorted out, that was pretty tricky! Closing this ticket now, feel free to open a new one as needed. If you do so, please mention this ticket number in the new one.

If you created any superadmin account for us, be sure to delete or block it now to avoid unnecessary risk in the future.

And please feel free to post a review on the JED,it helps and we appreciate it!

Best regards
