Hello,

I was trying different tools to check up my seo. Most of problems are solved using sh404 but there's still a problem with joomla category view:

The category view provides paginated content and the seo checkup tools is advising that those pages contain duplicated meta title and meta description.

A solution for the duplicated meta title could be providing a different title for those pages. I know you find a great solution for paginated content (read content with page break), but for the category blog view the issue should be solved with a "page-2" added in the meta title and a canonical NEXT/prev meta.

About the duplicated meta description actually i can't find a possible solution.

What do you think about this?

thank you.

Hi

Is this just regular Joomla views? this question is solved already, as explained (by adding a page-2) bit in the title. Please see, for instance, this page on our site.

As a matter of fact, and as you can see on the page I linked two, if you want to improve your site performance, best is probably to simple "noindex, follow" those category pages, they are just diluting your authority and your crawl budget.

Hi

I sent you a link to a category view on our site, which page titles are :

  <title>Releases and security | Page 2</title>

  <title>Releases and security | Page 3</title>

etc, for each page.

To go any further, we would at least need to know your site link, and a sample URLs with multiple pages without pagination in the title.
Alos, you would need to verify that this happens also with one of Joomla default template, in case your template has an override for the Pagination class.

Hi

I am confused. I followed the link you provided and the page title for page 2 is:

  <title>Passeggiate | Pagina 3 Eventi Napoli</title>

1 - did you modified it manually?
2 - Looking at the pagination, I can see this is not the standard output, they are also missing the prev/next tags added by sh404SEF (unless you disabled that feature under the "SEO" tab of configuration.

Please test with a standard Joomla template.

yes i noticed, now it does have the pagination inside the title. i did not change anything.

we use YOOtheme for the template, it may be possible that as many other templates it does override standard theme class. i think nobody uses the default joomla theme.

prev next setting is enabled in sh404...

Hi

So all is fine then.
yes i noticed, now it does have the pagination inside the title. i did not change anything.

My best bet is caching. These are computers, if you don't get the same result, something changed somewhere.
