When going to that page, I see what looks like a shop categories page?

So are you now using /index.php/ or not?

Could you please provide us with superadmin credentials to your website. You can create a temporary account, and delete it afterwards, but it must have superuser level.

I cannot log in with these credentials. It says: "Login denied! Your account has either been blocked or you have not activated it yet."

ok, I don't really understand how your site work so far, but here are my findings:

1 - First, I did a bit of cleaning and configured the site as it should be:
- Joomla SEF is on
- sh404SEF Enable URL optim is on
- disabled English language under "Content" tab of Joomla language manager
- purged URLs to be sure we start afresh

2 - Went to home page. Clicked on marketplatz, then "Kleneinzangen" from the menu. This takes me to a page with some products sub-categories. I can click on those categories and drill down through categories all right.

However things break when we want to see a product. I looked at, for instance, /item/print-kleid-mit-pailletten
There is a duplicate for this page (see documentation here):

If we select the non-sef with Itemid=178, things work fine.

I have found also that those links with Itemid=101 (the "other" links, the one that don't work), are coming from the small module you have on the home page:
[xxxx]

The links on that module on the home page are not working, for some reason that are internal to your site.

Please note that those links are not working also when sh404SEF is disabled. So I'm pretty sure if you fix the links on your home page, things will start as expected.
