 Hello,

I can't create any new articles since migrating to Joomla 3, I've been troubleshooting through a training forum. I've had a developer review my site and it appears to be an issue between the joomla core and sh404sef.

Please review the link with all of my issues below:
https://www.xxxx.com/support-forum/joomla-support/article-menu-item-id-problem-after-joomla-3-migrat/#118259

Thanks in advance for the help!

Hi

I do not have access to this forum, so it's not possible to understand everything. Usually this kind of problem comes from using the wrong Itemid when doing links, or not including any Itemid at all.

Itemid is what Joomla uses to decide upon which template and modules to display. If no Itemid is specified in links, Joomla may generate many different URLs for the same content (as it often uses the current Itemid). sh404SEF fights this SEO problem by making sure the same content is accessed through the same URL, sometimes this can have side effects however.

Good editors like JCE are aware of this and usually makes sure you create links with the correct Itemid.

Please read more about this here.

Hi

Well I read again that thread with images now, and this caught my attention:
Alright, so I disabled sh404sef... a bunch of my articles came up with 404 errors (as to be expected) but the san diego article still did no show correctly! Urghhhh
I'm not sure how sh404SEF can be involved then?

What you see surely is wrong itemid used. I can have a quick look tomorrow morning, at least I can evaluate if sh404SEF is involved or not. Could you please provide us with superadmin credentials to your website. You can create a temporary account, and delete it afterwards, but it must have superuser level.

Thanks and regards

Thanks,
I really appreciate you looking into this issue.
I had a developer diagnose that it's the way sh404 is interacting with the joomla core.

Where are you located and what time zone? I'm just waiting to see what your thoughts are before moving forward with a possible solution. I might have to restore my 2.5 site and I'd hate to do that at this point.

Best regards,
Mike

Hi,

I'm in Europe. It just doesn't seem very likely that the problem is linked to sh404sef if it still occurs when the extension ia disabled. You need to confirm that first I'd say.

I just went through and reconfigured all my settings for sh404sef. Somehow something I did is now allowing the menu itemid-fix to work, where it wasn't working before. Some every article however are still being assigned duplicates for some reason.

After I assign the proper duplicate the article now is working. So now I just have to go through and create menu item id-fixes for every category. How fun!!!!

If you could still look I'd love to have a different set of eyes on it.

Thanks,
Mike

Hi

But again:
It just doesn't seem very likely that the problem is linked to sh404sef if it still occurs when the extension is disabled. You need to confirm that first I'd say.
