Just a question to clear up a doubt before updating to 4SEF from sh404sef.

Is K2 compatibily built into 4SEF? I read on a forum it was.

tks for any feedback.

Hi

Is K2 compatibily built into 4SEF? I read on a forum it was.

Not sure where you read that but:

- compatible does not mean much. 4SEF is compatible with any Joomla extension, in that it can record and execute URLs created by any Joomla extension

- if by compatible you mean that you will get the exact same URLs as you had using sh404SEF, it's probably incorrect.

sh404SEF and 4SEF do not create URLs for K2 (no change here, situation was exactly the same with sh404SEF).

K2 does come with a plugin to produce URLs for sh404SEF (and allow some degree of URL configuration). As far as I know, they did not update that plugin to work with 4SEF.

So if you were using the K2 for sh404SEF plugin in K2, then you need to have an equivalent version made for 4SEF (plugins documentation for developers is here) by JoomlaWorks (or anyone really) before you can move on.

Note that in fact as you can import URLs from sh404SEF into 4SEF, existing URLs wil be fine and preserved. But new URLs, for new K2 items, will be less SEF and have things like /item/xxx/ in the URLs. They will definitely work but not follow the same pattern you're used to.

If were not using that plugin, there's no problem.

Tks for the immediate and full reply. That clears up my confusion.

Here's hoping a new K2 plugin for 4SEF will be available soon. I imagine it will be in the next couple of months or so.

un saluto da Roma

Hi

I have no idea about any delay for such a plugin to appear. I would strongly suggest to talk to the JoomlaWorks folks and lobby a bit for it, I'm not sure it's at the top of their priorities, unless users actively ask for it?

I will leave this ticket open in case you need to add something. It will automatically close in 2 weeks if no further comment is made.

Cheers,

Best regards

Hi Yannick, tks for the reminder to  renew my subscription.

Still no sign of a revised plugin for 4SEF to work with K2 so I guess it logically makes no sense to move to 4SEF right now if there is no way of making new search friendly urls.

Hi again,

By the way, remember that your subscription is for 4SEF and sh404SEF, if you're still using sh404SEF, you should still keep your subscription up to date to maintain access to any sh404SEF updates.

Best regards
