Hello,

I'm looking for a SEF solution for a website that uses Virtuemart and Custom Filters.

The virtuemart product pages should have SEF URLs. Product search is done using Breakdesigns Custom Filters.  This is the product overview page with Custom Filters:

http://example.com/index.php?option=com_customfilters&view=products&virtuemart_manufacturer_id[0]=1&Itemid=480&lang=en As there are hundreds of filting combinations, it is probably better to exclude those filter result pages from SEF.

Instead, submit sitemap with the SEF URLs of the products only to search engines.

Can SEF4 do this?

Thank you,

Chris

Hi

http://example.com/index.php?option=com_customfilters&view=products&virtuemart_manufacturer_id[0]=1&Itemid=480&lang=en As there are hundreds of filting combinations, it is probably better to exclude those filter result pages from SEF.

It's easy to set this particular extension to be left non-SEF (see this paragraph of the documentation).

Instead, submit sitemap with the SEF URLs of the products only to search engines.

These "hundreds of filtering combinations" should under no circumstances be included in the sitemap. Never, ever.

Product search is done using Breakdesigns Custom Filters

Do  you mean that using these filters is the only way to access your products? or do you also display categories where people (and search engines) can just click through to products.

If filters are indeed - I hope they are - a secondary way of looking for products, all pages from com_customfilters should be no indexed, and again definitely not included in your sitemap.

If you use custom filters as the primary navigation to your product, then you probably have a difficult search engines indexing issue on your hands.

Best regards
