Hi,

I recently bought 4SEF, but after installation I see that I can not manage Meta tags with it (something that I did not know before purchase), so it seems I need to buy 4SEO instead.

Question:
Can I get a refund for 4SEF so that I upgrade to 4SEO ?
Or somehow pay only the difference to upgrade to 4SEO ?

I hope, you understand, I do not need both extensions.

Greetings

Hi

Sorry about the confusion. The 4SEF product page tries to be explicit about what 4SEF does, and it's indeed only SEF URLs, absolutely nothing else. If you are an sh404SEF users, various blogs posts and newsletters over the last year or so also made it clear that:

- 4SEF was jsut for URLs

- anything else (and much more) was in 4SEO

Anyway, we have no problem refunding your 4SEF purchase, however you must be sure you don't need it.

Were you an sh404SEF user before? that's the key point. The main purpose of 4SEF is to maintain SEF URLs as they are built by sh404SEF. If your site was built with sh404SEF and you move to Joomla 4 ( a typical use case), you need 4SEF to maintain your URLs, or you will lose all your site rankings and SEO signals. Even with perfect redirects, you will lose a lot of traffic for several months.

Actually I bought recently sh404sef only as a bridge in order to migrate my JoomSEF links (on Joomla3) to same old sef links on Joomla 4, as JoomSEF is not anymore supported.

Please explain me, what of your extensions do I need exactly ?
I need just to preserve my old sef urls plus meta tags and redirects.

Is 4SEO enough, or do you suggest that I will still need both extensions (4SEF and 4SEO) ?

Greetings

Hi

I need just to preserve my old sef urls plus meta tags and redirects.

You need both.

- 4SEF does URLs and nothing else. Absolute requirements to to maintain URLs, the only important thing on your existing site

- 4SEO for anything else, including redirects and meta. Redirects and meta are not the most important things for SEO, so you can do without them in theory but considering 4SEO will also bring you Sitemap, Structured data and multiple other things, I can't recommend it enough.

Note again that 4SEO strictly does nothing about SEF URLs. It's been designed to work the exact same way with Joomla SEF, sh404SEF, 4SEF. It can very well run with JoomSEF itself (on J3 of course). It does not know or care about how URLs on the site are produced.
