I have used Artio JoomSEF on my site for over fifteen years. It appears they are not going to produce a Joomla 4 version (or at least I can find no information about it on their site).

I also know that you are not going to be continuing sh404sef in Joomla 4.  However, I saw in one post that you are doing a conversion program of some kind to allow old sh404sef urls to continue to work under J4.

Is there any way that sh404sef could help me migrate out of Artio and then eventually towards having a J4 compatible system without losing all of my URLS?

Hi

Yes, we are 100% continuing on our SEF URL solution for Joomla. sh404SEF itself is retired, not so much because of Joomla 4 but rather because it was an older code base, which was a limiting factor in adding modern features needed today.

So in june last year we released the stable version of 4SEO, an all-in-one SEO extension for Joomla 3 and 4. 4SEO does everything you need for SEO but it does NOT do anything related to SEF URLs. It's been done that way so that you can use it together with Joomla SEF, sh404SEF, JoomSEF or any other SEF extension.

To provide URLs continuity, we have since then developed 4SEF, a smaller extension which does only one thing: SEF URLs. 4SEF entered beta testing a couple of month ago and is available to all sh404SEF subscribers.

So the path I can suggest for you is as follow:

- move to sh404SEF on your J3 site. We do have a JoomSEF importer that should help you transition from JoomSEF by importing custom SEF URLs and meta data

- then from sh404SEF on Joomla 3 you can switch to 4SEF on Joomla 3, to preserve URLs. 4SEF can import URLs from sh404SEF.

- at any time, you can start using 4SEO if you care about actual SEO features. 4SEO can import meta data and redirects from sh404SEF.

- then when this is working, you can upgrade to Joomla 4.

Best regards
