 Hi,

im using K2. And the router.php of the newest version (even the older one) is creating weird url structures (here you can find the post in the k2 forum: https://www.joomlaworks.net/forum/k2-en/54537-same-tag-view-with-different-urls-available)

The K2 router is creating following urls with the same items:

kauf-auf-rechnung24.com/shops/blumen/kategorie/39-buero.html
kauf-auf-rechnung24.com/shops/kinder/kategorie/39-buero.html

These urls are available (not 404) and creating DC for the bots

And this is just a example. In the com_redirect component i have thousands of weird urls created by K2.

Can the SH404sef component handle these kind of issues?

If you see them in com_redirects then they are 404. Have you tested them? The URLs above are indeed 404.

Can the SH404sef component handle these kind of issues?
I don't know. I don't know what the problem is on your site so I don't know if sh404SEF will have the same problem.

What you have to know however is that sh404SEF does not have support for K2. It's K2 that has support for sh404SEF. They have a specific sh404SEF plugin that you can get to best operate K2 and sh404SEF together. If that plugin is not installed, sh404SEF uses K2 router.php file to build URLs.

So in all cases, sh404SEF does not build URLs for K2, but K2 build its own URLs. I think whatever problem you have with it will keep happening with sh404SEF, if it's coming from the K2 router. I think that's something they should be able to solve though.

Hi Yannick,

thx for your fast response. Sorry for the urls above.
K2 is creating urls like this:

kauf-auf-rechnung24.com/mode/itemlist/category/39-buero.html
kauf-auf-rechnung24.com/schuhe/itemlist/category/39-buero.html
kauf-auf-rechnung24.com/technik/itemlist/category/39-buero.html

and so on. For all my categories k2 is creating different urls with the same content.

Hi

OK, so for a given category, you've got 2 URLs:

working: kauf-auf-rechnung24.com/blumen/itemlist/category/39-buero.html
404: kauf-auf-rechnung24.com/shops/blumen/kategorie/39-buero.html

It seems to me they just changed the way URLs are built. The "old" URLs are now giving a 404. The new ones have the format with "...itemlist.." part in it.

That does not affect my answer basically.

No, for 1 category ive multiple urls. the category is "buero", but is available with multiple url combinations like showed above. If you call all 3 url, youll see the same items.

LIke you said, its a problem with the k2 router. Ive postetd it in the k2 forum and hope the k2 sh404sef plugin will solve this issue, otherwise ive to search for another solution. Because Xovi (reporting tools) shows me thousand of urls with DC. I thought maybe you have a answer too, because i think its a major issue regarding duplicate content.

So mode, schuhe and teknik are different menu items maybe? Sound like typical Joomla duplicate content issue indeed.

It's a significant issue if you have thousands of URLs indeed. However I cannot guarantee that this will be solved with sh404SEF. It's possible because sh404SEF will not automatically prepend the menu item to URLs. However all this relies on the K2 plugin for sh404SEF and possibly the router.php and that is a "blackbox" to me, something I have not control or real knowledge of.

You can certainly give it a try but you'll definitely need to get the K2 plugin for sh404SEF and I don't know if they have a refund policy if it fails.

Correct. So they are mode.html, schuhe.html etc. And this menu items are prepend to the other menu items (in this case buero.html) So the urls are created menu/itemlist/category/id-menu

Hi

I do remember K2 has a settings section dedicated to URLs structure, have you looked at that? maybe the settings were lost during update?

Man, thx Yannick. Its was the issue with "Tag" and "category" view. The weird urls are still available, but now the canonical works. Lets see, if the k2 plugin can redirect to the correct page
