 Hello dear Support Team,

Tell me please - will the Cron Job function work properly in your Component in connection with JomSocial? You see, I've tried many SEF Components, but the Cron Jobs just won't work with JomSocial - they turn my Cron URL into a SEF URL, and it won't execute at all.
I've tried JoomSEF, Mijo SEF - and nothing at all regarding the Cron Jobs.
Can you provide me with some info on that feature of your extensions - if any - or a documentation link regarding this particular matter so that I could decide if I need to buy sh404SEF??
Thank you very much in advance,

Best regards,

Hi

I don't know what's special about JomSocial crons that would make them fail. I have not tested that so I cannot say. I do know that we have users that use both sh404SEF and JomSocial and I have never heard of any issue with crons.

they turn my Cron URL into a SEF URL, and it won't execute at all.
Do you mean that the cron job is made bby fetching a non-sef url (ie index.php?option=com_jomsocial&task....) and that other extension redirects that to a SEF URL? That won't happen with sh404SEF (unless you explicitely enable that option which is off by default).

Can you provide me with some info on that feature of your extensions - if any - or a documentation link regarding this particular matter so that I could decide if I need to buy sh404SEF??
I'm not sure which feature you're actually talking about. The entire documentation is available for all to look at.

Hello Yannick,

What I'm talking about is that sh404sef makes the initial Cron Job URL from JomSocial - https://mydomain.com/index.php?option=com_community&task=cron- a new SEF URL to which it is redirected even with all the redirection settings off - https://mydomain.com/index.php?option=com_community&lang=ru&task=cron. And the Cron Job doesn't execute asa result. Where do I know about it?
It's a common problem disscussed at the officical JomSocial Tech Support Forum here: https://www.jomsocial.com/forum/installation/12866-cron-job-not-executing and here:https://www.jomsocial.com/forum/installation/19014-cron-jobs.
The JomSocial developers directly stated 6 year ago that the lang=ru is not used in their Cron Jobs URL. It is very strange that you don't know about the issue as a developer.
Ok, I got it. It's better for me not buy it until it will support JomSocial Cron Jobs URL and functions.

Thanks for the info,
Best regards

Hi

even with all the redirection settings off
None of the 2 links you posted say that. Both links say "there is a redirect happening" and JomSocial said "sh404SEF does a redirect, contact sh404SEF support". That's all.

6 years ago, automatica redirect from non-sef to SEF was enabled by default so I'm pretty confident that sh404SEF was doing exactly what it was instructed to do.

I hope those people contacted me and if they did, I told them to disable automatic redirects to avoid this.

It is very strange that you don't know about the issue as a developer.
That's most likely because there's no issue. 6 years ago some people add a support issue where they needed information on which setting to change to make this work, so I cannot call that a "common problem".

Even that problem went away when I changed the default configuration so that non-SEF to SEF redirects are disabled by default, several years ago.

If this is what you are worried about, I can guarantee you 100% that sh404SEF will not redirect non-SEF to SEF in cron jobs or in any other type URLs for that matter.

Ok, I got it. It's better for me not buy it until it will support JomSocial Cron Jobs URL and functions.
This kind of cron URLs is very common - we have 5 or 6 ourselves here on this site for various extensions. Trust me, those people had automatic non-SEF to SEF redirects enabled.
