 Hi,

We have a site located on a NGINX hosting company. As it´s now apache the htaccess doesn't work and we only are allowed to introduce the redirections manually.
Our questions are: our site is multilingual, and if we install sef404 will the SEF engine work properly, at the moment we have a lot of broken links, can we fix these issue with it?.

Thanks and regards
Mario

Hi

1 - sh404SEF is not concerned with the type of web server you run your site on: all of that is handled at Joomla level, not sh404SEF. Basically, if the URL rewriting works for Joomla, it will work for sh404SEF.

2 - Multilingual: we officially only support Joomla native multilingual system though we also have many Falang users with no issue.

3 - As for redirects, I'm not sure what you mean by "introduce redirections manually"? Nginx indeed only allows entering redirections in its configuration file, and you have to restart the web server each time you add a redirect. That's more efficient than the usual .htaccess apache way but less convenient.

In such case, I would suggest you do all the redirects with sh404SEF itself, we do have a very powerful redirect engines (see documentation here).

Best regards

Hi,

Thank you for your fast reply.
Can you provide a multilingual site (Native Joomla) with sh404SEF, to have a look?

Thanks and regards

Hi

Not without asking for a user permission beforehand. You would not see anything anyway, it would just be a multilingual Joomla website. What would you want to see?

Best regards

Hi,

What I want to know how sh404sef handles when you have some articles in a specific language, what happens if you click on the language selector and there is no translation for this specific language.
And also wanted to see if there are many broken links

Thanks for your support and best regards

Again, there is no difference with or without sh404SEF. The links might be different but not the behavior.

And also wanted to see if there are many broken links
You would not be able to see broken links by looking at an existing site. Broken links happen when a visitor goes to a wrong link, or a page has been moved or deleted.

Best regards

I think I´ve found the problem, we´ve used the same alias in different languages, and Joomla shows a 404 COM_JREDIRECTS_404_ERROR... let me fix these issues, and I´ll come back to sh404SEF to see it´s benefit for our site.

Thanks for your support

Yes and Yes. Either one by one or with redirect rules for multiple redirects.

I will leave this ticket open in case you need to add something. It will automatically close in 2 weeks if no further comment is made.

Best regards
