Hello, what precautions should I take when upgrading from 4SEF 2.6.0.621 and 4SEO 6.5.0.2541 to the newer versions on Joomla 4.4.5? I would like to keep my old settings. Thank you for your reply.

Hi

There's no precaution to take. In fact, you should absolutely update each time there's a new version, that's the only way any existing issue can be resolved.

Hi,

You're welcome!

One more word of caution, while I said there's no precaution to take about 4SEF and 4SEO, which will always preserve your settings and data, you should still take the standard precaution for updating anything on your site: mak sure if something goes wrong, you can reverse the process.

This means having a working backup and know how to restore it. This applies to any update you make to your site: Joomla itself, any extension. And of course it applies as well even if you don't update anything: your server can have some kind of failure, etc

Backups are the base requirement for running a website safely.

Best regards,
Yannick Gaultier

Of course, I have a daily backup of my folder and database via my hosting in addition to Akeeba, thank you for taking the time to point that out!
