Hello Yannick,
I'm using Joomla 6 and the latest version of 4SEO Pro on https://tototruffa2002.it.
I have enabled automatic OpenGraph metadata generation, but 4SEO sometimes selects a secondary image from the article instead of the main image assigned in Joomla.
Here is a specific example:
Page:
https://tototruffa2002.it/filmografia-di-toto-1950-1959/toto-e-carolina-1955.html
The correct image, assigned as the Joomla intro image and also used as the first image in the article, is:
https://tototruffa2002.it/images/sampledata/Menu/Cinema/Banner-Cinema-di-Toto/Toto-e-Carolina.JPG
However, 4SEO automatically selects this secondary image:
https://tototruffa2002.it/images/sampledata/La_censura/Stampa/1955-01-30-Vie-Nuove-Censura-L.jpg
Since my website contains a large historical archive, manually overriding the OpenGraph image for every article would be very time-consuming.
I would like to know whether it is possible to configure 4SEO globally to prioritize images according to this order:
-
Joomla full article image.
-
Joomla intro image.
-
First suitable image in the article content.
-
Default sharing image as a fallback.
I found an older support discussion mentioning a hidden setting that allows 4SEO to select the first image instead of the largest one.
Is this setting still available in 4SEO 7?
Alternatively, is there a supported hook or configuration option to prioritize the Joomla article image fields when generating og and twitter?
I'd prefer a solution that remains compatible with future 4SEO updates, without modifying the extension's core files.
Thank you for your help.
Best regards,
Daniele Palmesi
