Reduced schedule during conference and annual break

We'll be operating with a reduced schedule from tomorrow and the next few weeks, as follows:

We'll be travelling and attending JoomlaDay USA from Tuesday April 22 to Friday April 25. Support will have extended response time during this period. From April 25 evening to Tuesday May 12 included, support will be closed for our annual break.

Don't forget to look up the documentation, including the videos, your answer may already be there! Likewise, be sure to check the Development versions area, in case your problem may already have been solved.

In case of emergency (ie your site is down with a fatal error directly linked to one of our extensions), please contact us by email (see contact icon at the bottom of all pages of this site)

Hi

We use your 4VIDEO extension on our J4 site. Recently Google Search Console started reporting issues with a few pages having YouTube videos embedded stating videos can't be indexed because:

Video page indexing -> Video outside the viewport

Examples:

https://www.citizencard.com/about-us
https://www.citizencard.com/what-is-a-citizencard

YouTube videos of these pages are published using 4video module with "Maximum width override" set to 100%.

Any help with this issue would be appreciated.

Hi

The video is showing as expected, there's no technical issue with 4Video.

It seems to be that this decision is taken by Google when the video is not in the "main" viewport, ie when the page loads.

In your case, the video is near the end of the page, so when people load the page, they don't see the video and so Google says "video is outside of the viewport".

See for instance this thread, or a post directly on Google Blog:

"...that the entire video is inside the renderable area of the page and seen when the page loads."

A good remark made there is that this applies for video results. It does not mean your entire page is not indexed. Just that your video is not indexed for the video results page.

Best regards
