Hi,

Is it possible to search for redirects based on origin and destination urls on the redirects page in 4SEO? In other words, based on the text in the "Run on this/these page(s)" and the "Redirect to" fields.

Currently, based on testing, it doesn't seem like it's possible. It seems like it's just searching based on the redirect title. Just want to double check with you in case we were missing something.

For example, we have a few redirects going to a single destination page and want to know how many redirects are going to that single page and which ones they are.

Previously, in sh404sef, this was possible because we could search for a url and the alias tab would show all "aliases" redirecting to the destination url. I know the alias tab isn't coming back, but it would be nice to have the search on the redirects tab in 4SEO to consider the text in the "Run on this/these page(s)" and the "Redirect to" fields too.

If this is currently truly not possible in 4SEO, do you know if this could be something for a future version? Just curious.

Hi

Previously, in sh404sef, this was possible because we could search for a url and the alias tab would show all "aliases" redirecting

Actually it was not the case in sh404SEF. You would only see that way redirects that were created by adding them through the "Aliases" input field.

You would not see the redirects created with rules (ie using {*} and {?}), because it was not possible to detect which rules where applicable to each rule, at least not in a reasonable amount of time and server resources consumption.

What you are asking for is actually a bit difficult (that's why it's not there) because in 4SEO all the rules are just one piece of code: structure data, redirects, content replacer, metadata, etc

So currently, in fact, the search happens only on the title and the id, because that's the only thing we're sure to have for all rule types.

So one way to solve your issue is to have an explicit title, with maybe tags that would allow your desired grouping.

I'll have a second look, I think it's doable for some types of rules, by making the fields names change based on the rule type.

Just adding more context.

In our situation, we don't have any rule/logic based redirect rules. It's all just origin url to destination url.

We have a decent amount of redirects and all were automatically imported from sh404sef. It seems the import process set the title of each redirect rule just to the origin url. So that's our current situation.

Hi

I have had a second look but I'm afraid this will have to stay as it is in the foreseeable future. To search for other fields than the title (and id) would require searching in a json database column, which is something MYSQL does not support.

So there's currently no way to search for one of these "inner" fields such as redirect from or target. Hence the importance of using a meaningful name.

I will add a note to the documentation and have updated the title tooltip to mention this.

[EDIT]

We have a decent amount of redirects and all were automatically imported from sh404sef. It seems the import process set the title of each redirect rule just to the origin url. So that's our current situation.

In that case, you should already be able to search on the origin URL at least.
