Dear VirtueMart Weeblr Team,

I have a big problem. I received a warning from a lawyer that I use Google Fonts.

Google Fonts is installed in such a way that personal data is sent to the USA. I have to stop this behavior. The lawyer sent me a screenshot as well.

Screenshot: https://abload.de/img/screenshotkcimo.jpeg (in attachements too)

How can I completely remove Google Fonts from my homepage and 4SEO extension?

Many greetings,
Markus

Hi

Dear VirtueMart Weeblr Team,

Sorry, what? Virtuemart is not here!

Google Fonts is installed in such a way that personal data is sent to the USA. I have to stop this behavior. The lawyer sent me a screenshot as well.

That lawyer is confused if they think it is 4SEO using that font. Please have a look at the screenshot and you'll see that this is not coming from 4SEO in any way. All output from 4SEO to your site frontend is clearly marked as such, by use of a class="4SEO_xxx" attribute.

This font link is not coming from 4SEO but more likely from your template.

I would suggest you go to the Joomla forum and ask for assistance. I know there are already some extensions allowing you to download the Google fonts to your server and use them from there (therefore not going to Google's server).

This is required because you cannot just remove the font from the site, this would likely break, or at least modify, the way your site look. You need to keep using the font, but simply not link to Google servers to use it.

PS: I am not a lawyer of course but this sounds a lot like a frightening tactic, to extract some money from you. Although Using Google Fonts has very recently been deemed illegal in Germany and other European countries, it's likely way too early to have any lawsuit happening because of this.

Best regards

Yannick Gaultier
