Hi
I have started an analysis on a site yester day - only 5-8 pages, but 4SEO shows no pages in the list?
What am I missing?

Thomas

Hi

I don't know :)

"Started an analysis": from the admin, using the "Analyze now" button? did it complete? did it say at the end that it analyzed zero pages?

"only 5-8" pages: that's the number of pages on your site?

Without being to have a lookg, usual reasons are:

- not using admin analysis if site has no traffic

- site is protected with password but you have not entered username/pwd in 4SEO settings

- site is blocked through robots.txt

- global meta noindex is enabled in Joomla configuration

Aside from these, I'd have to have a look.

Thanks - yes the site only has 5-8 subpages :-)

It says: Page analysis completed, but pages show up.

Culd you have a look?

Hi

The basic reason this is happening is that there's an error, a fatal error, when 4SEO tries to crawl the home page. If there's an error on the home page, then of course it cannot find links to other pages:

The odd thing is that there's no details of the actual error, while 4SEO is usually capable of recording an error. I'll look in the log files to see if there's more details and get back to you.

Site note: I see that you have enabled "Collect external 404s". This will usually generate the recording of a lot of useless errors, just like the ones you're already seeing on that page. I'd recommend leaving that off but that's your call of course.

Hi again

Second side note, for our information: I see that you are using Regular Labs ReReplacer. Any particular reason to use it over 4SEO built-in content replacer?

Hi

So the logs files have plenty of such lines:

947
2022-09-19	13:31:38	error	94.18.243.162	guest	Weeblr\Forseo\Model\Crawler::crawl, id: 943c14b0380e11ed85df195f3f767d6e, crawler throw error on url : https://example.dk/
948
2022-09-19	13:31:38	error	94.18.243.162	guest	D:\wwwroot\www.example.dk\libraries\src\Http\Transport\CurlTransport.php::180 0 / Connection timed out after 15000 milliseconds

When 4SEO tries to load the home page, the server does not respond within the 15 seconds we allow for that operation.

That should of course not happen, so this would more indicate:

- A server DNS configuration issue: if the PHP code running on the server cannot talk to itself

- A security system blocking access: either a security extension on the site or a security software on the server

Does that ring any bell? Are you managing your servers (this seems to be a windows server from the file path I could see in the log files)?

Hi

I don't recall setting anything about: Collect external 404s - where can it be turned off?
RegularLabs was on the site before I installed 4SEO - dos it do the same things?

It's on Windows Server yes, but not one I control - I prefer Non-Windows :-)
Will try to get a hold of the provider ...

Hi

I don't recall setting anything about: Collect external 404s - where can it be turned off?

It's under Pages | Settings | Site analysis then scroll down to Collect external 404s.

RegularLabs was on the site before I installed 4SEO - dos it do the same things?

It should in most cases, yes. Go to SEO Tools | Replacer and add a rule to replace something by something else. Here is the direct link to documentation on content replacement. You can also view that doc directly by clicking the Help button in the toolbar:

It's on Windows Server yes, but not one I control - I prefer Non-Windows :-)

Will try to get a hold of the provider

Yes, that'd be best. I have cleared up all recorded errors, reset analysis, enabled detailed logging temporarily and I still get the same. here is an even clearer log extract:

2022-09-19	15:03:58	debug	77.197.215.19	549 ([email protected])	Weeblr\Forseo\Model\Crawler::crawl, id: 6e361a80381b11eda26fff82bba6c3b3, start crawling url https://example.dk/
2022-09-19	15:03:58	debug	77.197.215.19	549 ([email protected])	Weeblr\Forseo\Model\Crawler::crawl, id: 6e361a80381b11eda26fff82bba6c3b3, starting fetch on url https://example.dk/, requested URL https://example.dk/?x-wblr-crawler-cdn-bust=56CD2151-15FE-41F1-8742-2C35A36ACBA6, referrer: []

So if the hosting company can say why this particular request failed (they may have that in their logs), we'd make progress. They could also say if there's a particular issue in having a PHP code running in your site (that's 4SEO) trying to crawl the site itself.

Fixed it - or the host did. He allowed http-requests ...
Thanks for your help!

Hi

Glad it's sorted out, so odd that this would not be allowed by default, not sure how Joomla can work without that (new versions available, etc). Or maybe they were only blocking requests to the server itself but requests to the ourside world were allowed?

Could you add thsi to Analytics-providers?

I'm afraid I can't add just any provider, adding a provider implies maintenance, documentation and support. Personally never heard of them, even though that's a topic I do follow with attention.

I assume it's a matter of injecting a bit of javascript, so I'd suggest to use the "Raw content" SEO rules type to add the snippet. That way you can inject their snippet on all pages, or just on some as you see fit, possibly with different parameters.

I have saved their homepage and will try to learn about them.

The host is normally hosting .asp/.net but my customer wanted to use him - that's why he is not used to these things :-)

I have no problems getting the tracking code on my page, it was more so you could expand the list in 4SEO.

Have a great day!

Hi,

I have no problem expanding the list, looks like analytics providers are popping up like crazy these days: Fathom, plausible, Simple Analytics, Counter, Clicky... and that's not even counting the one I already used and support.

Closing this ticket now, feel free to open a new one as needed. If you do so, please mention this ticket number in the new one.

If you created any superadmin account for us, be sure to delete or block it now to avoid unnecessary risk in the future.
