The inclusion of images also works well.
Maybe you have an idea how to do that.

It will happen in the future but I have not set that as a priority because I believe videos are better served by Structured Data. So the idea is that the page itself is in the sitemap, and then in the page you have structured data to describe the video. I consider this more efficient because most of the times the videos are not hosted on your own site but instead played from YouTube or Vimeo.
Also, you need to provide a lot of information to include a video in sitemaps (see this paragraph in Google doc) which is not always easily available and so generally speaking, if all this information is available, you can have structured data which work even better.
