From your answer on another ticket:

ME: In "Pages" > Search engine preview. It would be nice if the preview and the fields Meta description and Canonical was the actual output on the page

YOU: That's exactly what we do. The title, description and canonical are those found in the page when it was crawled. Of course, if any of these value is changed, you'll have to wait for 4SEO to pick them up in a crawl update.

- As you can see on the canonical.jpg (for me) it looks like there are no canonical url, but it is present on the page view-source:https://www.xxxx.dk/streamers

- My point was also that it would be nice if the SERP preview showed the preview from the actual code and include Ratings etc

Hi

- As you can see on the canonical.jpg (for me) it looks like there are no canonical url, but it is present on the page view-source:https://www.xxxx.dk/streamers

That's unfortunately a special case: this canonical is inserted by sh404SEF and due to the very peculiar way sh404SEF injects its meta data, it cannot be picked up by 4SEO. Changing this requires adding code to sh404SEF, not 4SEO which has not been done considering that sh404SEF will be replaced soon by the 4SEF+4SEO combination.

- My point was also that it would be nice if the SERP preview showed the preview from the actual code and include Ratings etc

That will absolutely never, ever happen. This would require analyzing the structured data on the page in the exact same way that Google does and update the code every few weeks when Google change their design. Just analyzing the structured data, if done properly, would require an amazing amount of code.

Of course, some simpler stuff can be done but it would have about zero value. Even the current representation is just a rough idea. For instance Google keeps enabling and then disabling showing the favicon from the SERp results. It's usually now displayed on mobile results but not desktop but that has changed several times in the past already.

Best regards

Makes sense not to do more for sh404sef.

I see your point. It was just more if 4SEO could show that there are snippet implementet, then you could do it disclaimer that the actual output may be different on Google. As titles and description also is in a search.
