Hi Yannick,

my 4>SEO 404 Error Page is not working everywhere.

i have no other redirect extension and no entries in the .htaccess

https://www.[redacted].de/service/wejiwejriwe goes to 404 error page. Thats fine.

https://www.[redacted].de/wejiwejriwe goes to home page. Why?

Can you please help me.

Hi

https://www.[redacted].de/wejiwejriwe goes to home page. Why?

It does not "go to home page". Simply there's no error, Joomla does not consider this as a 404.

4SEO error page feature displays a nicer and more efficient error page. But if Joomla does not trigger a 404, there's no much we can do.

(I assume you are not running sh404SEF on that site? sh404SEF would not allow this to happen).

Do you have a category or a menu item for "wejiwejriwe"? this would likely explains Joomla behavior here.

If this is not Joomla, as usual, I would recommend:

- temporarily switching to Joomla Protostar template in case it is your template doing this

- temporarily disable any system plugin that's not from Joomla or from 4SEO

Be sure to clear your browser cache between each attempt.

Hello,

it runs on Joomla 4 without SH404SEF. No other plugins.

Same result comes with Cassiopeia template.

For example: "Test" page does not exist

[redacted]/service/test goes to an error page

[redacted]/products/test goes to an error page

but

[redacted].com/test goes to the home page

Raphael

Hi

it runs on Joomla 4 without SH404SEF. No other plugins.

This were just the more common suggestions. I'd suggest next to disable 4SEO system plugin and try again.

Hi Yannick,

Even with the 4SEO plugin disabled I get the same result.

Looks like a different problem.  I think its not 4SEO problem but do you have another idea?

Best regards,

Raphael

Hi

Oh it was never a 4SEO problem. 4SEO displays the 404 error page if a 404 happens. In your case, problem is that the 404 does not happens so again, it never was a 4SEO issue.

do you have another idea?

All the suggestions I made were already based on the fact 4SEO was not involved.

it runs on Joomla 4 without SH404SEF. No other plugins.

Same result comes with Cassiopeia template.

Have you actually disabled all non-joomla system plugins as suggested?

Hi Yannick,

The problem could be Joomshaper Pagebuilder.

I have found out that if I select the home page as Joomla contribution in the menu everything works.

As soon as I select SP Pagebuilder page as start page there is no 404 Page but redirection to home.

Now i will open a joomshaper ticket.

Best regards,

Raphael

Hi

there is no 404 Page but redirection to home.

I don't see any redirection to home happening. Only the content of the home page is displayed, but there's no redirect.

This would suggest that SPPageBuilder may have a "404 error handling"  "feature" and therefore you may be able to disable it? If not, you'll need to contact them to learn more I think.
