I notice some cross-over functionality between the 2 extensions, such as control of meta information. Yest, they both have some functionlaity tha the other does not provide. This being the case, I would like to install and use them together on the same site. Will they function okay together if both installed and enabled on the same site or will this cause problems? Thank you. Kind Reagards, Malcolm

Hi

Yes, that's a common situation: 4SEO does not do anything with SEF URL and does not care if you use Joomla SEF, sh404SEF or another extension.

For the overlapping features, you have to make a choice as to which extension you'll want to keep using. For instance for meta data management, or redirect. Currently 4SEO cannot import any data from sh404SEF but that will come so you can start using 4SEO for meta data and redirectsf for instance, even if you have some of these stored in sh404SEF. In due time, you'll be able to consolidate everything in 4SEO (except for the SEF URLs).

It's also totally fine to keep using sh404SEF for meta data now, and only move to 4SEO later for meta data, when importing is available. Sitemap creation or structured data generation in 4SEO will not be affected by whether or not you are running sh404SEF (you'll want to disable the few structured data features in sh404SEF, if you use that - breadcrumb, site search - or else you'll have duplicate records).

Best regards
