Hi Yannick
I have run 4seo for some time now and loooking to make use of the automatic generation of meta descriptions in my pages.
So far I have no meta description present on any pages and was hoping that the system would generate them automatically, or force it through using the Analyze option under 'Pages'
I must admit that I did enter a site meta description in the Joomla Glocal Configuration metadata section, but of course this just permeates thorugh every page. But after removing this I still canot see how to initiate 4SEO into the automatic generation of meta descriptions.
I have read the docs and 'hads a go' myself in the Pages section but to no avail.
Also, I must create a positive review for 4SEO on the JED (I write it here to remind me)
Kind regards
David

#11101 – Joomla 5 - 4SEO does not generate automatic meta descriptions
Hi
I must admit that I did enter a site meta description in the Joomla Glocal Configuration metadata section, but of course this just permeates thorugh every page.
Yes, this would cause a meta description to be present on all pages, meaning 4SEO would not generate any on its own.
or force it through using the Analyze option under 'Pages'
Auto-meta description is a "live" feature, it's not affected, or caused by, the page analysis.
Now I can't say much without a link to the actual page. Things that could have an effect are:
- the extension you use
- using progressive/conservative caching
although in both cases, extensions not using Joomla standard API, or caching, would prevent a decent meta description to be generated, but one would be generated anyway (note that the latest dev version of 4SEO can now work through caching).
But gain, hard to say without actual website URL and one or a few pages where the problem can be seen.
(also using full page cache, or local litespeed/nginx full page caching, or a CDN depending on its configuration would also prevent you from seeing the result of the configuration change, at least until such cache would clear).

Hi
Of course, caching...
I did not wish to seem presumptuous in the first message, but here is a link

I shall try with caching left off, and turn off Cloudflare caching too
Kind regards
David

I have just checked again, and it is working fine
It seems that caching was the issue, not sure how I missed that!
All is well and working fine
Kind regards

Hi
Actually, please try again!
I have released version 6.0 of 4SEO just yesterday, and it should work better for generating metadescription with progressive/conservative caching enabled.
