Hi,
I use 4AI mainly for translating texts, however I have a pretty annoying problem, 4AI removes all my line breaks (
), on approximately 10 translations only 1 translation keeps the line break... how can I avoid this?
I've included the tag in words to be excluded, but this has no impact.

Thanks,
Lorenzo

Hi

how can I avoid this?

This is the limitation of using these tools, they will do things like that sometimes, for some people. It's of course not 4AI removing these br elements but the ChatGPT API (which is confirmed by the fact it sometimes actually work). 4AI itself does not process the translated HTML.

I've included the tag in words to be excluded

The tag is not a word, it's part of the HMTL so I don't think indeed they'll take that into account.

What I'd suggest  instead, as a test, is to add Custom writing instructions:, similar to:

"Do NOT REMOVE <br> tags found in the content".

See how that goes, and maybe try variations of these instructions to find which one has a better effect.

Of course, make sure you use GPT-4 and not GPT-3.5, it should follow instructions much better.

...thanks for the tip, apparently I've made a mistake before by always using GPT-3.5 ...

Hi

I've made a mistake before by always using GPT-3.5 ...

It's not a mistake, it's a choice: GPT-3.5 is fine for most work, especially translation, it's already very good.

It's also fast and the cheapest.

GPT-4 has much better quality in general, and follows instructions better. It's also slower and a bit more expensive than GPT 3.5.

So using GPT3.5 is totally fine, unless you have a problem and something does not work well with it. In that case, try GPT 4.

But I would first try GPT 3.5 with these added instructions about not removing br tags.

If that does not work, try GPT4 without these instructions.

And if that does not work, try GPT 4 with additional instructions, and test other instructions as well.

Best regards
