We're pleased to announce the release of 4SEO version 7.2.0. This is is a feature and maintenance release, with a big focus on improving the crawler: faster, more efficient, better at decising what and when to re-analyze pages. As always, compatible with Joomla 3 to 6 without compatibility plugin.

Here are the highlights:

  • Added support for new creator property in VideoObject structured data
  • Improved reliability detecting main item image, particularly when caching is enabled, either on the site or at server level, combined with modules or other articles embedded inside an article
  • Added ability to exclude parts of the page when deciding to re-analyze it. Add a forseo-analysis-exclude CSS class to elements (or list your own classes), and that element changes won't trigger a new analysis. Use if you embed changing content (Latest articles,...) inside of articles with loadmoduleposition or similar
  • Performance: do not extract links and images on entire page when running in Main content change only detection mode
  • External links and excluded pages are now re-checked on a weekly basis, in case their status change
  • Improved detection of page changes; faster discovery of articles change; better prioritization of new page vs re-crawling
  • Links to other websites are now analyzed with a lower priority, after internal links
  • Move content change detection and other computations, more reliable when caching is enabled
  • Now defaulting to re-analyzing page only on main content change, instead of any change on the page
  • Updated TinyMCE to 8.8
  • Added 4seo_article_date_modified_iso8601 and 4seo_article_date_published_iso8601 variables, to use in replacements, with current article publication and modification date in ISO 8601 format
  • Removed basic check on non-SEF URLs when trying to redirect them to their SEF version, as some unusual URLs format would not be redirected
  • Some default expanded variables (4seo_page_title, 4seo_page_description,...) may not always be expanded and replaced
  • When Joomla regular caching is enabled (progressive or conservative), some pages may be repeatedly crawled, preventing analysis to complete in reasonable times
  • Telephone number in default organization structured data is output with useless wrapping characters
  • None of TinyMCE dialogs (link, image) are displayed when inside a dialog HTML element
