We're pleased to announce the release of 4SEO version 6.9.0. This is is a feature release, compatible with Joomla 3 to 6 without compatibility plugin.

Here are the highlights:

  • Unpublishing existing articles now triggers an immediate update of the sitemap. These items are also not suggested anymore in the [Similar pages] section of error pages. Publishing back the articles also causes the sitemap to be updated accordingly. Unpublished articles now have an [Error] Status on the Pages page
  • New option in metadata rule to suppress the meta description from pages. Search results snippets are usually created automatically by search engines, and having no meta description may result in better click rates according to recent studies
  • New option in metadata rule to always use the configured default sharing image instead of the automatically selected one
  • Added 3rd option to Core Web Vitals filter: [With Data]. This hides pages that have no Core Web Vitals measurements yet, allowing comparison between passing and failing pages
  • PHP 8.4 and 8.5 compatibility improvements
  • Now removing content of alt attributes in content before trying to automatically build a meta description
  • (small) performance improvement by not adding hooks on some events in the backend, while they are only useful on the frontend
  • On dark theme systems, standard text of first install configuration wizard is hardly visible
