 Hi,
I would like to use menu alias as SEO URL and if there is no menu item for an article, then using the category and article title.
something like:
www.domain.com/menu_alias (in case the menu item has no parent)
www.domain.com/parent_menu_alias/menu_alias (in case it's a sub-menu item)
www.domain.com/parent_category/article_title_alias (in case there is no menu item defined, for a news article within a blog view)

Could you guide me how to achieve this?
Thanks in advance

Hi

Simply put you can't. Using menu structure to build URL is just terrible from an SEO standpoint, and one of the major weaknesses of Joomla for SEO. Sh404SEF has been designed from the start to NOT do that. We have some settings to work the Joomla way if we have to, but we cannot mix them like you want.

If you don't have too many items menu, I think the best way to achieve that is to manually customize the URLs. You can always do that, on any URL. This page explains the process.

Thank you for your quick reply.
I will try that.
Can i use the same for the homepage? I've tried everything, but my homepage button gets it's own URL ("www.domain.com/homepage" instead of "www.domain.com").
How can I change that one. the system does not allow me to have just a "/" or empty field as url.

Thanks again.

Hi

Usually this is the sign that your language settings are not correct in Joomla. You have to make sure that under the Content tab of language, you have your site language. Very often, "Content" language is left to the default (English), but for now we need to have it set properly. What's the language you have under the "Content" tab of Joomla language menu?

It was empty. I set it to Dutch and it's working. Thank you!
