Once I turn the URL cache handler to disk file my website turns into code, as you can see on the attachment.

When using shared memory or when url caching is disabled the problem is solved.

Additionally I believe the shared memory module doesn't work, since I'm making use of UNIX sockets for memcached; namely: /tmp/memcached.sock

Is it possible to use UNIX sockets with shlib?

Hi,

Can you check that the files/folders permissions are the right ones?
If not please correct them and then try again.

Which folders and files should I check, and which (UNIX) permissions do they need to have?

How about using shlib with the memcached socket?

Hi

Using shlib with sockets is not possible and won't be in the visible future.

I don't think this problem is related to permissions. You have the cache content being displayed on screen instead of being loaded as a PHP file, so there's something terrible wrong with server configuration here, when a PHP file content is displayed.

- have you set Joomla display error to maximum
- what do the PHP error log say?
