 Hello,

I just installed the latest sh404sef update and now my custom 404 error pages won't render anymore.
If I choose the default Joomla 404 page it does work.
If I select the default Home page as itemid the title of the page will change, but no content will be shown because there's no 'content' section available on the homepage.

You can test it here: http://www.xxxx.be/test

I have tried by changing the sub-template, clearing the cache, ..
I'm using Joomla 3.4.3 with YOOtheme template (all updated to latest version)

Thanks for you assistance.
Best regards,
Benny

Hi,

That page is interpreted as stylesheet/css thus the browser doesn’t render it correctly.

Could you please provide us with superadmin credentials to your website. You can create a temporary account, and delete it afterwards, but it must have superuser level.

Hello,

Thanks for the quick reply. Very strange that it renders as a stylesheet. I didn't alter any settings except upgrading Joomla + all components.

I added an admin account on the secondary website, which is not multilanguage and the same problem persists:
http://www.xxxx.nl/administrator
login: xxxx
pass: xxxx

Thanks!

Hi

This issue is usually coming from a plugin (usually a system plugin) that changes the document type incorrectly. It's usually not possible to identify the root cause remotely, and this will require we get a backup of your site, so that we can install locally and debug through PHP to figure out which extension is interfering...

Hello again,

I don't know if you guys are still busy at the moment, but now it suddenly works again.
I do notice that my homepage url doesn't show up properly any more (http://www.xxxx.nl) but instead it's now http://www.xxxx.nl/home.html

I will log out of the site and not alter anything until I've heard of you.
If you still need a backup, Akeeba is installed and you can create one.

Thanks!
Benny

Hi,

Although you had language filter plugin DISABLED you still had half of the multilingual menu in place.
In other words you had a main menu with all languages as the home page and also the home menu item which was only for Dutch as homepage for that language. A simple change on the menu item Home so it will be the homepage for ALL languages solves your problem.
Now everything works fine.

Please note this change tho, so in the future if you would like to make your site multilingual you have to change that menu item back to the correct language.

Hello again,

You're right that I made a mistake with the Menu item, but the same problem persists even if the website (like xxxx.be with a Dutch and a French menu) is multilingual with 3 menu's (menu-all, menu-nl, menu-fr) and with the language filter enabled.

But when I select an "itemid to use for 404 page" that is not part of the main menu for any language it just works. No idea if it's a bug, or that my setup for the multilingual site is wrong but I'm happy it's working.

Thanks for the great support!

Best regards,
Benny
