 Hi Guys

My client wants me to provide them with shURLs for all their repository items so that they can send the short links to their clients who can download the documents. I am using a component called attachments from Joomla extensions to attached the docs. The question I have is I can do s shortlink on the page using tag but cannot do it for each attached document. I have a field 1 when uploading where I would link the link to be put in but when I put the tag it only provides the same as the page but not one for the attachment. Is there anyway I can get the individual attached document shurl automatically coming up in field one. I don't know much coding and any help would be useful.

You can see the trial test site at: http://xxxx.com/e/administrator/
user: xxxx
pw: xxxx

and one of the front pages can be seen here :http://xxxx.com/e/kd

Thanks

Hi

It appears the links to documents on http://xxxx.com/e/kd are actual links to the physical file on the server (ie: they don't go through the "Attachments" extension when downloading them).

I don't see how sh404SEF can thus create any short links, if the document file doesn't go through Joomla. Even if that was the case, this would require coding as Attachments doesn't seem to support this sh404SEF feature.

Hi

Actually I think you can probably do that manually, using the Joomla Redirect component. You can create a redirect from any URL you want to that of the pdf. But you'll have to create them by hand I'm afraid, and come up with a numbering sheme to avoid giving the same URL to 2 or more Pdf.
