#79 – 404 requests manager stopped after upgrading sh404sef

Can you check a bit further your redirection setup.
If I try to load http://www.XXXXXXXXXXX.org/blog/17-women-in-sanatana-dharma-hinduism, I am redirected to http://www.XXXXXXXXXXX.org/blog/17-women-in-sanatana-dharma-hinduism but then the connection fails: https://weeblr.com/images/screenshots/eeq6B13aheM82YLWD6uNgFj8zzdwoq.png

I mean there's no 404, it's the server that fails to respond. That's why 404 don't show on the sh404SEF logs.

Also as you can see, the redirect is not for http://www.XXXXXXXXXXX.org/blog/women-in-sanatana-dharma-hinduism, but instead there's still the id, 17, in the target url

Ok, I was able to follow the redirect. I do get a 404 page, but I don't think that's sh404SEF 404 page. Instead you get Joomla! 404 page, or maybe it's even the web server log page, which is why the 404 is not recorded: it's not processed by sh404SEF.

The reason that can explain this are:

- the url blog/17-women-in-sanatana-dharma-hinduism exists in the URL manager, so sh404SEF doesn't trigger a 404
- more complex: one of your components is set to "Use Joomla! router", under the "By components" configuration of sh404SEF: see example: http://XXXXX/LEUTz
If so, and due to internal technical reasons, sh404SEF cannot always manage the 404s, because Joomla triggers it itself.

Does any of this options appears valid?

The error log page, is the custom error page i set in sh404sef config, i have a file named error.php in my template folder.

Nope, this is NOT sh404SEF error page. This: https://weeblr.com/images/screenshots/T49ah0mlY1gbMUKIojG2aclvET3L4W.png cannot be generated by sh404SEF.

is that a screenshot from my admin area? because i don't use acymailing :)

No of course, this was an example of the setting in sh404SEF configuration that I was asking you to check, which would explain why you're seeing Joomla 404 handling instead of sh404SEF 404 handling

This why you're seeing Joomla 404 page instead of sh404SEF, and that 404s are not recorded. The "Questions" and "Weblinks" components are set to "Use Joomla router". If you use Joomla router, you get Joomla 404 page and sh404SEF cannot record 404s.
