I am having periodic issues with sh404sef causing my website to get a blank white page. To fix this, I just go into the cache files via FTP and delete the cache files and the site comes back up. It is starting to do this more frequently though so I must have some setting off. I tried increasing the size of the cache in the sh404sef control panel to see if that helped but had the site do it again this morning. Any idea what is causing the crash and blank white page?

Hi

1 - What's your cache size? increasing it is not a good idea usually, as it uses up more memory.
2 - When you're are in the situation where your site is down, you should get to the backend, and set Joomla error display to "Maximum", then reload your site to see if an error message is displayed.
Alternatively, you can already check your web server PHP error log file for errors.

If this keeps happening, you can simply disable the URL cache in sh404SEF.

I put it back to 1000000 where it was. I had increased it thinking that might help but see what your saying. I thought about turning it off too but wasn't sure how much it was going to affect the speed. What is the recommended size?

Hi

The default size is 10 000. You shouldn't go above that. Whether and how much it affects speed or not depends on a lot of factors, such as the number of links on your sites, the amount of RAM affected to PHP and available on your server, the average number of users on your site, the speed of your server disk access, the speed of your database server, etc so the only good solution is to try with your own use case.
