Sometimes we find the en/ attribute in german url’s. For example a news in our blog. But this is wrong and will sent to the 404 site.
We sort all menus and news and another articles in German = de and English=en. We had no one site with ‘all’ language. …and nevertheless… we find this wrong url’s like ‚ ‘xxxx.de/en/blog/viel-spass-tolles-buntes-wochenende’
Do you had a idea?

Hi,

Have you setup your site according to the best practices showcased in the Joomla documentation?
Do you use the plugin Language Filter?
Have you setup correctly the content Languages?
Also menus and articles are correctly assigned to the appropriate language?

Regards

Hi Dimitris,
I don't know the best practices showcased - where can I find them?

But we read a many tutorials and you help us the last time to fix the menu's.
> Do you use the plugin Language Filter?
The Language Filter is 'on' - but we see the ''item association" don't work :(

> Have you setup correctly the content Languages?
All (!) content and menus is sort in DE and EN - no All

Hi,

Could you please provide us with superadmin credentials to your website. You can create a temporary account, and delete it afterwards, but it must have superuser level.

Hi,

About your english homepage:
Your english homepage is "Articles » Featured Articles", which in turn is default Joomla content. The problem is that the association between this and the German content doesn’t exist because for your German content you use K2. I don’t know what is the reason of this separation and the usage of both native Joomla articles and K2, but as is right now it breaks the associations.

Another thing I would like to mention is that Joomla 3.4.3 has a known bug (fixed in the staging version) in the language filter and the cookies:

Hello Dimitris,
This is not 100% correct. For the mainpages (home) we use the joomla articles with the default tag.
The switch between the main sites is not our problem, but the switch, for example, from German "Leistungen" to English "Products & Service" don't work.

Hi,

Associations are essential for the correct operation of the plugin language filter. For your example above I see no association for the German menu item "Leistungen", therefore the redirect will be to the homepage

Hi Dimitris,
that the association important is I know. From which menu you make the screenshot? In that case "Leistungen" it has a association - in the important menus SEO DE & SEO EN???! But if you try this it don't work. IF you change from "Leistungen" to th eEnglish Site - if you switch und comes to the english home.

this is my second question.
the english home - is now better but we like to have the breadcrumb and the url simple like the germans.
Now we had
Breadcrub: Home / Offensichtlich - Your Optician / english articles / Offensichtlich - Your Optician | Berlin
we like to have only: Home
For thr url: offensichtlich/en

Is it possible?

Hello Dimitris,
now switch between the booth language is working. We found the problem with the plugin.

But we have some problems with the urls.
1) How I can hide/deactivate ‘en/tag’ respectively how we had to use the settings to use only the tags from the englisch sites?
Our problem is a the moment the system crate ‘en/tag’ (have look to the attachment) but the most of them we use only in german content. And the reverce link from ‘en/tag’ to the german article showed to the wrong url. That have now a ‘en’ in the url – like xxxx.de/en/blog.

I think the best way is to hide the part ‘en/’ – than the links to the article are working.

Hi,

I think tags are also language dependent, but let me check if there is a shortcut to achieve what you want.

Hi,

After some research I come to the conclusion that one such change is so fundamental for tags that you actually would have to override the whole component (or re write it to your needs). Tags weren’t designed with this option and is highly unlikely that such functionality could be implemented without breaking too many things.
But there is a batch operation which could help you transfer the tags from one language to the other. That wouldn’t be much work in order to accomplish the same result.
