Dear Yannick,

I'm working in this web site with last Joomla and Sh404sef version:
https://www.xxxx.com/anto296/

In the footer I added a new item voice called "Ricette primi piatti Test1" or something similar.
Its link was: https://www.xxxx.com/anto296/ricette-di-primi-piatti.html

Then I decided to deleted this item voice from this menu and to move it to a hidden menu called "Nascosto ricette". Then I added to this new item voice the same alias: ricette-di-primi-piatti

Problem: the link doesn't work. Thus I went to Sh404sef and to "SefURLs" --> I found "ricette-di-primi-piatti.html" and I deleted it.

Then I check if the URL https://www.xxxx.com/anto296/ricette-di-primi-piatti.html worked without success.
I'll be gratefull for your help.

Thank you very much.
A nice evening
Andrew

Hi

Then I decided to deleted this item voice from this menu and to move it to a hidden menu called "Nascosto ricette". Then I added to this new item voice the same alias: ricette-di-primi-piatti

Menu items or they alias don't matter for URLs, at least if you are using the default settings under the "By component" tab of sh404SEF configuration.

URLs is determined by the aliases or title of articles and categories only.

In the footer I added a new item voice called "Ricette primi piatti Test1" or something similar.

Is the footer a Joomla menu? and what is this link TO? an article? something else?

Problem: the link doesn't work.

What does that mean? 404? something else?

Best regards

Yannick Gaultier

Thank you very much for your quick reply.

- Is the footer a Joomla menu? and what is this link TO? an article? something else?

Yes, it is a Joomla menu and it links to an Joomla article.

----------

- What does that mean? 404? something else?

As you can see this is a page not found: https://www.xxxx.com/anto296/ricette-di-primi-piatti.html

------------

May these problems depend on the fact that the site was copied from the main domain
https://www.
xxxx.it/ to a my working area: https://www.xxxx.com/anto296/ ?

Thank you very much.
Regards
Andrew

Hi

No, Joomla does not use the domain in URLs.

As you can see this is a page not found: https://www.xxxx.com/anto296/ricette-di-primi-piatti.html

The link in the footer of the site is: /ricette-di-cucina-test1.html.

That links work fine for me.

Thank you very much for your help!

As long as it was in that menu its link worked (as I wrote at the beginning of the post).
Then I moved that menu item to a hidden menu because I'm creating a page dedicated to recipes:

- first dishes
- main courses of meat
- fish main courses
- recipes for desserts

so each of these items will have its own link which will not be present in the published menus,
but only in that article.

For this reason I have created a hidden menu that contains these 4 links / menu items.

Thank you very much.
Kind regards
Andrew

Hi

Then I moved that menu item to a hidden menu because I'm creating a page dedicated to recipes:

To exist, a link must be somewhere on your site.

so each of these items will have its own link which will not be present in the published menus,

but only in that article.

Then the links to those articles will exist as soon as you open that page dedicated to recipes. Also:

1 - there's not need to create hidden menu items for those articles, like I said, menu items are not used by sh404SEF to create URLs.

2 - As with any link you create on your site, the links to these articles on the recipe page should be created in the standard Joomla form, ie non-sef: index.php?option=com_content&view=article&id=xxx. That way, Joomla can pick them up and pass them to sh404SEF for transformation into a SEF URL.

Best regards
