I made a different ticket since this is a very specific question.

In the production site (also sh404sef installed) this is a url:
https://xxxx.com/faq.html

I noticed that if change the ARTICLE ALIAS, then reset the sh404sef database, I can change it , for example to :
https://xxxx.com/faq-2.html

Ideally I want to make these changes from the MANU ALIAS. How would I do this?

Here sh404sef picks up the ARTICLE TITLE and generates this url. Obviously the production site has different settings.

This is what I want:
1) sh404sef to pick up the MENU ALIAS and create the default url.
2) If #1 is impossible, then pick up the ARTICLE ALIAS, just like the production site.

PS: Yes, I know I can go to sh404sef and change all the sef urls. I prefer to do #1 though, this is the way Joomla would do it. Plus I will avoid typing mistakes.

Nope. This is what Joomla does and it causes all sort of duplicate content issues, at least on larger site. Won't happen.

This is what sh404SEF does unless you changed the corresponding setting.

As always and as quoted from your other ticket:

2 side notes to make things a bit easier/safer:

- when you change settings related to how URLs are built (ie use alias instead of title, change the "table" prefix,etc), remember to use the Purge button on the SEF URL manager toolbar to delete all existing URLs so that new ones can be built with the new settings. Then visit your home page to start the rebuilding process.
