 Hi,

I have around 20.5k total urls in database and causes SEF URL panel under sh404sef component to load very slow, and in some cases it times out. The dashboard shows that only 8792 have been visited and 11.7k are unvisited. Is there any way to optimize the speed on sh404sef ?

Thanks,
Aravind

Hi

Is there any way to optimize the speed on sh404sef ?
sh404SEF has 10 years of optimization behind it so it's very well optimized for what it has to do. The fact that more than half of your URLs have never been visited only means that Joomla creates a lot of URLs!

What matters for sh404SEF is to be fast on the front-end, when loading your site pages. In the admin, we have chosen do build a dashboard that shows a lot of information and it runs complicated MYSQL queries to do that (ie listing duplicates for each URL for instance). So the first thing would be to have a MYSQL server that's powerful enough to handle the load of the URL data on your site.

If that's not possible, then the next option is to switch to the "simplified" version of sh404SEF SEF URL manager, by going to "Advanced" -> "Slow server" and set that to Yes. This will cause sh404SEF to display a simpler manager with less information but that runs faster and should help, at least for a while.

Best regards
